The Sigaw ng Kabataan Coalition in partnership with the Rotaract club of Fort Bonifacio Global City organized its first ever Hike4aCause. It is a fundraiser activity for the benefit of the Books and Toys for the Mangyan Children Project.

A total of 28 participants including Rotarian Erlinda Candolesas conquered Mt. Binacayan and Mt. Pamitinan located in Rodriguez, Rizal province, Sunday, April 23, 2017.

According to pinoymountaineer.com, Brgy. Wawa in Rodriguez formerly known as Montalban in Rizal province has long been known to outdoor enthusiasts for its beautiful Montalban Gorge and the various activities that can be done there: caving in Binacayan Cave and Bat Cave, mountain biking, swimming by the Wawa Dam, and  rock climbing in the limestone cliffs in Mt. Binacayan. In addition to this, it is now being recognized as a hiking spot, with at least two of its small, Rocky Mountains – Mt. Pamitinan and Mt. Binacayan – offering refreshingly new trails with close proximity to Metro Manila.

The activity is not merely an all-fun event. It has some educational aspect and to know that there is a cause behind this made the participants more enthusiastic. One of the participants, Ms. Rosanne Arado said: “It is always a great pleasure for me to extend my hand and to help other people through involving myself in a fundraising activity.  RAC FBGC’s event was not just for fun but also to help the children of Mindoro. And it was a success. I was tired, I got bruised, I got dizzy but as soon as I reached the summit, the feeling was unexplainable. Indeed, it was fulfilling. Summer goals achieved!”

The SKC and Rotaract Club of Fort Bonifacio Global City through the officer-in-charge for the activity, Scott James Choa expressed their gratitude to all participants.
