The participants; leaders of various community youth organizations in the area enthusiastically participated and shared their first hand experiences in relation to the internet, particularly social media matters.
SKC President Bro. Ellirie Aviles discussed the Freedom of Information bill and the Efforts of the civil society towards its passage. He encouraged young people’s organizations to join the Freedom of Information Youth Initiative;a national network of more than two hundred Filipino youth and student organizations that call for transparency, accountability, and participation in government through the immediate passage of the People’s Freedom of Information Act.
Despite the Civil Society Coalition for FOI; Right to Know, Right Now Coalition’s declaration that the Freedom of Information is Dead, the Youth remain optimistic for its passage in the 16th congress and will continue the struggle for a Freedom of Information Act.
“Tuloy ang laban ng kabataan para sa isang pamahalaang bukas at may pananagutan!” Said Aviles, quoting the FOI Youth Initiative.
After the forum and workshop, the Task force on youth development and other local Youth Organizations has undergone SKC Basic Orientation Seminar.
