SKC talks on Freedom of Information and Cybercrime Prevention Act at Brgy. Sauyo, Quezon City

Task Force on Youth Development of Barangay Sauyo, Quezon City held a forum on Freedom of Information and Cybercrime Prevention Act last August 21, 2015.11895943_948633675178529_7446834648967549158_n

Bro. Reggie Pasaol from SKC’s IT Committee talks on Cybercrime prevention Act, discussing the salient points of the law.   “The law says, if you can’t say anything good, then you better not say anything at all” said Pasaol.

The participants; leaders of various community youth organizations in the area enthusiastically participated and shared their first hand experiences in relation to the internet, particularly social media matters.

11866450_948633688511861_8512071102484187755_nSKC President Bro. Ellirie Aviles discussed the Freedom of Information bill and the Efforts of the civil society towards its passage. He encouraged young people’s organizations to join the Freedom of Information Youth Initiative;a national network of more than two hundred Filipino youth and student organizations that call for transparency, accountability, and participation in government through the immediate passage of the People’s Freedom of Information Act.

Despite the Civil Society Coalition for FOI; Right to Know, Right Now Coalition’s declaration that the Freedom of Information is Dead, the Youth remain optimistic for its passage in the 16th congress and will continue the struggle for a Freedom of Information Act.

After the forum and workshop, the Task force on youth development and  other local Youth Organizations has undergone SKC Basic Orientation Seminar.
